Online Versus Face to Face

Online tuition provides more flexibility, and the opportunity to record the session for future revision and consolidation. We use current modern education technology (edutech) to present sessions clearly and visually; often this is an improvement compared to a face to face delivery. A full zoom subscription is used and session notes are converted to a PDF document. Additionally, a WhatsApp group is created to triangulate communication between student, parents and the tutor. This ensures crystal clear communication, as well as offering support between sessions. Importantly, we also use the WhatsApp group for students to take quick photographs of their learning, thus enabling us to check their presentation, learning as well as provide live assessments of learning and progress.

What do you need?

The minimum requirement for online lessons is a tablet, laptop or computer with a stable internet connection. Many students use a tablet with a pencil/stylus, which enables fluent writing on an online whiteboard. In zoom, students are able to annotate the screen with various writing tools, as well as have remote control of the tutors computer - this is great fun when playing an end of lesson game!

Another excellent purchase is a graphics tablet, which plugs into a laptop or computer via a standard USB connection. This offers freehand writing and improved fluency. An example is HERE.
